Product Info

TheBeep Boop CV FM Radio is ready to receive transmissions!

The Taperack system needed a noise source and after listening to Delia Derbyshire describe white noise I felt inspired…

What better noise source than a radio between stations?

Imagining what it would have been like to make Tape music before synthesizers led me to start experimenting with my Nans old radio. I loved the plethora of material available for sampling as well as well as using the static noise between stations.

As I don’t make a Beepboop Oscillatior I think a radio is a rather fitting sound source for the Taperack system. Perfect for sampling into the uTape scrubber (or upcoming 1U Taperack system).

The module is a manually scannable CV FM radio for eurorack. The radio is tuned using either it’s main manual frequency scanning knob or with a bipolar CV signals

The large TUNE knob scans the full range of FM stations.

The smaller knob can be used as a fine tune when no CV is patched into the CV input jack.

Once CV is applied to the CV input jack the second smaller knob acts as an attenuverter and is best suited for signalS between +/-5V but will accept up to +/10V.

The module supports Worldwide FM band (64–109 MHz) but has been adjusted so that BBC Radio 2 (88mHz) is furtherest on the left and Hits radio (106.5mHz) furthest on the right of the main tune knob. This covers almost all FM stations avaliable in the UK and arouind the world.

Try moving the main knob to the centre postion (BBC Radio 1), now apply CV to the CV in. The station is retuned by the CV up or down depending upon the volatge at a maximum rate of 200ms.

It is possible to scan to beyond 88MHz and 106.MHz by applying CV while the main tune knob is at either extreme.

The module responses best to step volatges when jumping between station. Try patching a sequencer to the CV input and then tune each step to a diffrent station.

The module comes fitted with standoffs ready to install an AM coil which will be included with the upcoming expander kit to allow for exploration into other bandwidths….. stay tuned!

Without the AM coil the module is 34mm deep.

With the expander AM coil fitted the module will become 46mm deep as seen in the product photos.

This will still makes the module skiff friendly as it is under 50mm (but It is possible to use smaller stand offs if you require the module to fit into an Intelijel palette case (45.5mm)

Includes power cable and mounting screws.
